Thanks Chap. I’ve already read Human Action, but will definetely be looking into schiff and the like.

In regard to Schiff I highly recommend you search youtube for “Peter Schiff Mortgage Brokers”. It is about an hour or so long, but it is him telling a bunch of mortgage brokers what is going to happen in the next few years. It is from 2006 and he was dead on. Almost everything he said that would happen did happen, and with eery detail.

Do not take it personally. It must be a requirement, no matter where you come from. As for people being refused entry in Canada because they do not speak english, I think it is better for those people to have a decent understanding of one of the official languages. They are not going to refuse you entry because you do not speak french, even though it is the other OFFICIAL language, are they? Do yourself a favour and do not get too worked up over this.

Well, the process shouldn't cost that much, as long as you don't start paying for lawyers and immigration consultants to help you with the process. Some of those guys charge thousands of dollars to obtain and assist would-be immigrants in completing application forms, and that is a total scam. Unless your English is very poor, or you are too intimidated to attempt the process yourself, you should avoid using middlemen (unless you are very rich, in which case it doesn't matter). The fact is, either you will have enough points or you won't. A middleman won't be able to change that. And don't bother trying to lie on the form – you will be found out. Unless you have a lot of money and plan to start a business in Canada with invested capital, or have relatives in Canada who can sponsor you, you have to qualify as an independent. It is a fairly straightforward process, but be warned that it can take up to two years to be approved. Also, potential new immigrants who are professionals in their home country should be warned about one very important thing. Just because you are a doctor, lawyer or engineer in your home country, don't assume that you will be able to perform the same kind of work in Canada. Immigration Canada gives extra points for a graduate degree, etc., and professional work experience, but, often, candidates are not told that their professional qualifications are not worth anything in Canada. You may have to requalify completely in order to work in your field in Canada, so be warned.

Friedman is okay. But, the Chicago School does leave some more to be desired. If you really like economic study then I highly recommend you do some research into the Austrian School. It is a deductive science that also has a broad center rooted in history and human action. F.A. Hayek, Ludwig von Mises, Murray Rothbard, Peter Schiff, Thomas Woods, Carl Menger, Walter Block, etc are extremely great minds from the Austrian School. And, the best part is that Austrian economics isn’t boring.

Bring copies all driver & school & insurance & marriage & divorce decree certificates. Bring lots of money, a years work just to be on the safe side. Buy a years worth of Travel health insurance. When Permenat Residency paperwork in submitted, YOU cannot leave the country until it's done or the border guards won't let you back in. Don't hire an immigration lawyer because you don't need it.

Another example is the cigarette companies who LIED to the public about the health affects of smoking.
Professional wrestling claimed their sport was REAL for many years but later admitted they lied. The fear was to protect jobs and their families.
I’m not anti-capitalist nor am I anti-Milton Friedman. I just prefer a more balanced approach to the system. There is room for improvement in the capitalist system.

So, this guy says that it’s okay to have abortions, but it’s not okay to sell a defective car. Now how does that make any damn sense?

There are a large number of jobs for truck drivers, especially trained and experienced ones, here in the Western Canadian Province of Saskatchewan, which can be thought of as the "Minnesota of Canada". He should search on the web for the web site of the Saskatchewan trucking association, then contact it.

I have a friend who began the process just over a year ago. He was recently told that he isn't on the list for the interview this year, but he expects to be called up after the New Year. It would then take about a month or so, and then he has one year to make the move. I think this is about average.
Good luck.

I used to be a socialist, but know I have seen the light. Thankyou Mr Friedman.

Because Canada has a strong economy, with a positive balance of payments, a strong currency and a high standard of living. It has been ranked the best country, or among the best countries, by the United Nations Human Development Report for the last 6 years. The report is based on life expectancy, educational opportunities, income and other measures of the quality of life.

Ah, confused college kids trying to grapple with an intellect of this scope.

Yes. During your interview you will meet with a Canadian consular officer fluent in French. Your ability to speak, read and write in French will be tested. If you do not score high enough you will not be admitted for settlement in Quebec.

good for you, Late Dr. Friedman
Well may you rest.
Being right is seldom associated with being correct.
But you are.

If 40 million dollars could save a life AND this was affordable by the car maker then YES they should pay it. They can’t though. But in this situation, they could. So the real principle question is: If, a company CAN at an AFFORDABLE cost, save a life, should they be FORCED to do it or should they decide first if its good for the company? for themselves essentially. I think the companies should do in fact what’s good for the people. At any cost. But so must EVERYONE else. From the grocery man to

G'day,
To come to Australia, you will need to be clear on your main priority now…
1. If your priority is study, then you apply to the university first, pay the required tuition fees and apply for student visa. You can then apply for permanent residency after successful completion of your study and apply for job. Please be advised that you can only work max 20hrs/week during study period and full-time only during holiday period. This means that you cannot rely on your income in Australia to support yourself.
2. If your priority is work, then you will need to apply for skilled migration.
Hope this helps for the condition in Australia. To find out the course you want to study and where it is offered, visit IDP Education Australia (www.idp.edu.au). IDP is an organisation that helps international students who wants to study in Australia.
Good luck
