The quotes are an estimate at best, and based on information you give. I'd suggest that instead of looking at a web page, find an independent agent, give him your information, let him run it, and find you the best deal in his data base. The side benefit is you have a person to talk to if needed instead of an 800 number.

There are not as many one stop shopping places to get quotes in AU because the insurance laws are different. I don't the industry is as large there as it is in the U.S.

They don't send anymore unwanted adverts than anyone else.

After you use the information they give you to make a decision deactivate your Progressive signon and account.

I don't remember any snail mail from them after I requested a quote.

I had Progressive for awhile, found GEICO to be a better fit for me. Less money, better coverage, you know those things…

There is a site where you can compare a bunch of different insurance companies to find out which one will give you the best price. You can find Progressive, Esurance, and a few others here.

Go to your parent's insurance agent, and just ask them for a ballpark.

You can't get a real quote without personal info, as credit score is part of the rating criteria – so you need a ballpark.

If you drive an old beater, and you're not in a major city, figure the car will cost you $1,000 a year for minimum coverage, the renters will cost you $150 a year, and the health insurance will cost you $200 a month.
