Just what I’ve been looking for. My car insurance was unreal, this site saved me $546 and it was so easy to do. Thanks! (One tip though, get more than one quote. My 3rd quote was the one that saved me a ton : )

See this http://gsx1.com/Car-Insurance/100.php take the quote, they'll come back with prices from different insurers in your area. It's very quick and free of charge.
But to find a cheap price you should get several quotes, do some legwork till something really cheap will come along.

If you buy an oldish Corolla, they are cheap to insure and fair on gas, get liability only and that's the cheapest type of cover you may get.
But get several quotes, try them all, they are free so find the cheapest one, it's out there.

Insurance is very individual because it's based on your drivers record, sex, age, and a number of other variables such as location, credit rating and type of vehicle being insured.

The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent. Look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and they should be able to help you.

In Texas, we have several companies that will write a 30 day policy – but that is the LEAST amount of time for issue.

If you are hear as a tourist, you can purchase coverage on a rental car. I have had foreign workers that come and find it more cost effective to purchase a car for the period they are here and then sell it when they return to Europe.

In that case, 30 day policies would probably be what you need. You could always start a 6 month plan on payments and then just quit paying when you leave the country.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

Car insurance in the US is a real mess, and options are pretty limited. But there's a pretty good site that compares up to 12 insurance carriers by filling a single form:

Take a look. Hope it helps.

Find an agent that carries lots of different companies. They can usually find you something cheaper.

Look at State Farm and other insurers who offer a "good student" discount. One strike against you on the premium is the fact that you bought a Mustang. This is considered a sports car in vehicle ratings (IRG) and add to that an 18 year old single male and it causes actuaries everywhere to shudder. Those are all high risk elements when figuring a premium. However, if he's in your household and you have multiple policies with the same company and he's got the grades AND you have a good claim history with no accidents, that will give you the best rate. If he didn't have a car that had to carry collision coverage, it would be a lot cheaper but what's done is done. No matter the cost, be sure he has at least $100,000/$300,000 liability limits.

I would suggest Progressive, I just switched to them from Esurance and my premium is about half of what it was with Esurance, and the coverage is the same, even a little better in some categories. The fact you are a new driver will not hurt you, if anything, it will HELP you, since you will not have any violations that will up the price of your insurance. In addition to this, you are 26, most isurance dropas at age 25, so you should find a decend price, I would suggest checking out Progressive. But whatever you do, shop around a bit. Hope this helps, Good Luck.

call an insurance broker and get a quote. That is free to you. Some insurance companies will assign you a credit score, some do not. (They are proprietary models- not FICO) .Insurance companies assign additional risk depending on where you live- a big city may be more expensive than a suburb or rural location- more likelihood of damage to auto, or theft of vehicle. Additionally, it depends on what you drive.
If you purchase renter's insurance or homeowner's insurance, some companies will give you a discount if you place them both with the same carrier. So, call an independent agent for a quote, and then compare that to the direct insurance companies like Allstate, State Farm, etc.
